After reading this weeks article, “Teaching Online: A Guide to Theory, Research, and Practice,” about online learning and its progress towards including It in our educational systems, I gained more advanced knowledge of the work that is put into developing and constructing an online learning environment.
Personally, I have not always understood why some students prefer online or in person learning, when I asked my fellow classmates they always said because it is more social to be in person. However, after reading this article, I came to the realization that it comes down to the learning style that each individual encompasses. For example, I enjoy online learning because it allows me to access and complete assignments when I am able to, in accordance to the due date etc.
This article proved that online learning comes with many challenges and steps in order for it to be executed successfully. I enjoy online learning atmospheres because it allows for feedback to be a more permanent part of the course. It also gives access to the students to review their feedback and prove the opportunity to better their writing or formulas, depending on what course they are taking online. For me, I am a sociology major, and I have enjoyed online courses because it gives me a space to receive feedback on my writing style and it gives me something can always refer back to.
Hi, Kenzie. I like your background. My homepage looks so boring compared to yours. I quite agree with you that online education can provide more communication space for students. It is more able to cultivate a student’s self-learning ability.
For offline education, one of the most prominent advantages is that people believe that without the interference of mobile phones, they can concentrate more on the class. But to be honest, if they are bored with their study, they are likely to be in a daze in class, drawing pictures, or going to the bathroom constantly. Therefore, it is not clear whether offline education is really more effective. Thank you for your sharing.
hello, msquirell
I also think that face-to-face teaching is more efficient in communication because you can directly capture the tone and expression of the other person.

Hi Kenzie. To be honest, I am the person who prefers offline education as mentioned in your article. Before the outbreak, I had never been exposed to online education. But I have to admit, after practicing it, I think it’s a lot better than I thought it would be. Each class has due dates and is free to study whenever we want. If we have any questions, we can ask them in the forum or email them directly. People actually have more free time.

Thanks for the post, Kenzie!
You’re right in that students all have their own preferences when it comes to courses. If you look at the five classifications that Major presented, can you identify your preference for each? If you didn’t choose Open, are you able to identify individuals for which open enrolment is crucial? This question relates well to the concepts in Topic 3 and your Assignment 2.
By the way, it’s best to think of an open audience when writing your blog. Write the post in a way that is understandable to people that didn’t just read the same articles as you. Also, it helps to ensure you have one clear message that you are trying to convey (and try to include it in the post title).
Lastly, the background image on your blog makes some of the text hard to read. You may want to consider a different template.
Thanks!
